I've been feeding raw since 2012 and I've watched a lot of brands come and go. This is
the list I'd give a friend — the US brands I've fed myself or looked at closely enough to have an opinion, with the same details compared for each so you can actually tell them apart.

How I evaluate brands
Every brand on this list gets compared on the same things: composition, format, how the food achieves balance, whether it's HPP'd, protein variety, portion size, price per pound, and how it ships. Same categories, every time — so you're comparing brands, not marketing copy.
Beyond the specs, I'm looking at things you only notice as a customer: how the food arrives, how it thaws, how much freezer space it really takes, and how easy the company is to deal with when you want to change or pause an order.
I don't list a brand I wouldn't recommend. But "good" isn't the same as "right for your dog," so for each one I've noted what stands out and what's worth knowing before you buy. Every brand here has been vetted — the ones marked "Fed It" are brands my own dogs have actually eaten.

BEST FOR — Busy owners who want food they can trust without doing any of the thinking — no math, no portioning decisions, no protein selection. Also worth a look if your dog does better on a meat-forward diet; recipes are built around muscle, organ, and bone, with only small amounts of plant material like flaxseed and kelp rather than ground fruits and vegetables.
WHAT STANDS OUT — You answer questions about your dog — breed, age, weight, activity, allergies, goals — and they build the plan. How much, how often, which proteins: all decided. Recipes come from a PhD animal nutritionist with 30+ years in the field, so the "don't think about it" convenience isn't a tradeoff against quality. Everything is HPP'd, which matters if food safety is what's kept you off raw.
WORTH KNOWING — It's a subscription. The bigger thing for me: the quiz decides your daily amount and proteins, but it doesn't show you the numbers anywhere. I wanted to know how many pounds a day my plan actually worked out to, and I had to email customer service to get it. They answered fast and told me exactly what I asked, but experienced feeders who want to pick a protein and a quantity will find the interface is built to keep those decisions away from you.
